This paper investigates the integration of a proportional-integral-derivative (PID) controller with a Kalman filter to enhance the dynamic response of a direct-current (DC) motor-generator system operating under variable load conditions. The Kalman filter is employed to estimate and smooththe speed signal obtained from the encoder, thereby attenuating measurement noise and providinga more accurate feedback signal to the PID controller. Experimental results demonstrate that the combined Kalman-PID approach significantly improves speed stability, suppresses oscillations, and elevates overall control performance. This methodology shows considerable promise for implementation in modern generator systems that frequently encounter load fluctuations and external disturbances.
